Cipher is a solo work that begins from the question: how does sound come out of my body? Sinha explores this question using the "nonsense" sounds of tarana—a genre of song in Indian classical music invented in the 13th century that mixes Persian, Arabic, and Sanskrit syllables that are said to encode mystical meanings. Cipher is performed with a "band" of four electronic boxes, including electronic tabla (drum box) and electronic tanpura (drone box), which have trapped a centuries-old tradition of acoustic finery into a convenient, portable form.

The Wet Weather Ensemble will perform a 40 minute showing of their fledgling theatre piece Bird Boy at The Watermill Centre on Saturday, February 25. Inspired by the true story of a 7 year old Russian boy who was raised in an aviary by his mother, the ensemble has been experimenting with bird calls, caged environments, mask work, video portraits and puppetry of household objects.

Anna Telcs will present a presentation of her textile sculptures on February 25 at The Watermill Center. This performance entitled, The Dowsing will be staged in a couture-style salon for the premiere of fashion house Atelcs. Designed for the fall 2012 season, the works will display whole-cloth quilting techniques and other characteristics drawn from the Mennonite and Amish communities living throughout the Americas. The collection, rich in texture and color, is constructed on metal armatures and will be worn by live models in a runway-style presentation.
